MGMT are back with the follow-up to their massive debut album Oracular Spectacular which is entitled Congratulations! To counter the leaking of the always difficult sophomore album the band have decided to stream the entire album online for free.
They say that they planned to make the album available as a free download but were forced to drop the idea by, presumably, their record label. Whether you choose to believe that or not you can still listen to the album http://www.whoismgmt.com/.

Choice Music Prize Winner Announced
Congratulations to Galway's own Adrian Crowley who won the Choice Music Prize last night for his album "Season of the Sparks"! A surprise winner in many eyes and he's surely hoping that this added publicity will grow his popularity to a whole new level.
For those of you who don't know too much about it, the Choice Music Prize is really Ireland's version of the Mercury Prize and is 5 years old this year. Previous winners of the prize are Julie Feeney, Divine Comedy, Super Extra Bonus Party and last year it was Jape.
Pretty strong shortlist this year including big names like Bell X1, Laura Izibor and The Swell Season as well as hot tips like Codes and And So I Watch You From Afar.
So congrats again to Adrian and here's something from the man himself:

Two Door Cinema Club
Nominees for the prestigous BBC "Sound of" award for 2010 and tipped for big things by The Theme Engine ourselves, Two Door Cinema Club are, in keeping with this week's theme, hitting up good old Galway this week. Remaining tickets are limited but if you can check them out because the next time they play in ireland it could well be in a place a helluva lot bigger than the Roisin Dubh.
Electro-pop madness is their thing and single from their debut album 'I can talk' should be a real indie dancefloor hit. Remember though...(radio voice) "You heard it here first"!
Anyway here's a link to a rather splendid Lady Gaga cover they did for Virgin France: http://www.virginradio.fr/antenne/Emissions/Tidav-ca-part-en-live/Videos/Two-Door-Cinema-Club-Poker-Face.

Newton Faulkner
The Theme Engine has just returned from a cracking Newton Faulkner gig in the Radisson. The man is just shit cool-that's all you can say about him. Terrific set but the venue is awful. The Roisin needs to bring these gigs back to the Roisin itself and not go selling out by having bigger crowds and a crappier setting. If that gig had been on Dominick Street it would have not just been a good gig but a truly great one.
And another thing! When did it become okay to talk (not whisper) the whole way through a gig! Talk at home/at the pub for free people!
Here's some awesomeness:
